Viceroy Hotels & Resorts prepares for a grand New York City opening

You can’t help but be impressed when you view the sleek exterior of this property, as the glazed black brick-and-metal window-fronted building brings the character of Tribeca to Midtown. Amazingly, Viceroy New York looks to be on-schedule for their “big reveal” as they open the doors to their first official guests on October 9, 2013. Though the brand is also behind Times Square’s tranquil escape known as Cassa Hotel and Residences, this opening will be New York’s first Viceroy property… and an exciting property it is.

Viceroy Hotels and Resorts pride themselves on being a full-service lifestyle luxury hotel brand, which re-imagines the essence of style and service. Their impressive portfolio of properties includes expansive oceanfront villas, exclusive cosmopolitan suites and concierge-attended resort enclaves: inspiring discerning guests and residents to indulge in a life as singular as it is sumptuous.

The New York market has been waiting for the Viceroy name for some time, and we have wanted to be there,” commented Bill Walshe, CEO of Viceroy Hotel Group. “Our first Viceroy branded hotel in the city has to be exceptional, and this development is quite simply perfect. This is a hotel that will stand apart from its competitors; it will be incredible.”

With the help of the sought-after design team of Roman and Williams, Viceroy New York was looking to break the mold when it comes to the traditional midtown properties. Bringing this unique façade, Roman and Williams have certainly delivered. The jaw-dropping double-height lobby sets the scene for this comfortable, yet sophisticated interior. While all of the rooms and suites are designed to bring hip and stylish comforts to 57th Street, it’s the Viceroy Penthouse that will certainly be the buzz of the town. A striking interior coupled with breath-taking views out over central park, this “home away from home” encompasses the entire north side of the building on the 28th floor. This is one not to miss, for sure.

Making real estate headlines just weeks ago, the New York Post announced that it was purchased from Ark Real Estate by American Realty Capital New York Recovery REIT for $148.5 million, which equals $615,000 per key. Before this transaction, Ark’s Chairman, Brad Reiss had said, “Our vision for this project was to deliver a luxury hospitality product in an iconic building, embodying the Golden Era of New York in an incomparable and irreplaceable location. We believe the Viceroy brand, which embodies innovative design and superior guest service, will bring a hotel experience highly desired in New York City.” While it seems that this vision has certainly become a reality, the success of Viceroy New York is now in the hands of American Reality Capital New York Recovery.

Kingside, the hotel’s street-level bar and restaurant, will partner with Chef Marc Murphy of Benchmarc Restaurants to further develop interpretations of New American Cooking with the cocktail and wine offerings of the Gerber Group, a leader in hospitality and nightlife. These cocktails, along with small plates from Kingside, will also be available at the hotel’s rooftop lounge and deck for those who wish to enjoy their refreshments with a panoramic view of the city. Chef Marc Murphy will certainly maintain this feeling of a trendy downtown vibe in a sophisticated midtown location, and the property still says they have more announcements coming soon for The Roof.

The property will offer numerous services and special amenities to the New York’s business traveler, and is also taking great strides in the “Green” initiative. These added benefits, along with standard amenities such as the indoor plunge pool, fitness center, spa products by Neil George, complimentary WiFi and many more create a luxuriously comfortable place to reside for a few days while working and/or playing tourist in Manhattan. Note that the hotel does provide valet parking and allows pets up to 25 pounds. Viceroy New York is launching with a host of Special Offers and Packages, so be sure to check these out before making your reservation.
