26 Jul Event MC: An Author Signing Event with Bedside Reading

I was fortunate to learn about the Bedside Reading program earlier this year while researching and developing a story about their unique program that places great books in hotel suites throughout North America. I felt honored when they asked me to MC their event at Morrison House Old Town Alexandria, Autograph Collection, which proved to be such a rewarding evening with the authors and readers, and of course, the team behind Bedside Reading.

Founded in 2017, the Bedside Reading® program partners with the world’s leading publishers including Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Macmillan, Simon & Schuster, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, as well as many others and independent publishers and authors. The company’s mission is to help authors build their fanbase by connecting their books to readers and providing hotel guests the opportunity to unplug and delve into the world of words at some of the most sought-after destinations. Books range from newly discovered authors and independent publishers to bestsellers and major publishers. Guest suites and rooms in participating hotels are stocked with exclusively curated titles that guests may enjoy and add to their personal libraries or leave for the next traveler. Genres include fiction, non-fiction, children’s, business and memoirs.

The evening included an impressive lineup with Helaine Mario (Dark Rhapsody), Robert Fleisher (Divine Affliction) and Natalie Banks (The Canary Song). I enjoyed having the opportunity to get to know the authors and Jane Ubell-Meyer (Founder of Bedside Reading®) during the opening reception, and then MC’ing the night while the authors had an intimate conversation with the guests. I look forward to watching this program continue to grow in the coming years, and working with them again soon…
