Hotels Going Pink In Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

For Examiner.Com | Breast Cancer Awareness is in full swing, and many hotels have joined the movement to further support the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM.org). For 25 years, the NBCAM has been at the forefront of promoting awareness of breast cancer issues; bringing together a strong collaboration of national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies to bring awareness and initiate more dialogue.

Fortunately, many of our friends in the hospitality industry have stepped-up and joined this fight while doing what the hospitality industry does best – develop creative ways to market and promote the specialized products and services while making money to donate to this cause very near and dear to many people today. As these are only a very few of the many, thank you to all the hotels, restaurants, spas and other allies in the hospitality industry that are bringing an enormous amount of support to this movement.

Mandarin Oriental Boston

The Spa has development the Inner Strength treatment inspired by the Inner Strength oil personally created by Aromatherapy Associates’ founder Geraldine Howard during her own battle with cancer. This treatment contains a powerful blend of ingredients, including calming clary sage and frankincense for better focus and clarity, fortifying cardamom and rosemary, healing rose and vetivert, and geranium which helps to emotionally balance the mind and stimulate circulation in the body. The treatment concludes with attention to the reflex points in the feet to make the body feel more grounded and gently awaken the senses.

When Geraldine decided to create this oil to help her during a low point in her battle with cancer, she intentionally sought out ingredients that build strength, inspire courage and induce a positive state of mind,” states Mandarin Oriental, Boston’s Spa Director, Sharon Holtz. Through the end of this year, 10% of the cost of each Inner Strength treatment purchased will be donated to the Jimmy Fund, an organization that has been supporting Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for over 60 years by raising funds for cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.
